The Zimbabwe Youth Champs were inaugurated in 2003 with a core of 5 sports, and increased to 8 disciplines over the next couple of years.  This year a massive leap to 22 sport codes was introduced with swimming among the new events.  The water is a chilly 17 degrees but some outstanding times have been recorded.  Today was the first of our 2 day programme and it involved a small opening ceremony  with our invited guest Conzani Ncube the Matabeleland Provincial Administrator doing the honours.  Andy Cyprianos, now resident at Pace University and a former Matabeleland swimmer raised the flag.  One notable result was a spectacular 100m Butterfly from Quintin Tayali, who achieved his S A Junior qualifying time for 2018
